LEADING THE WAY 1992-2002

During this period, Costa Rica was being noticed worldwide as an outstanding ecotourism destination. The exuberant rain forest, several active volcanos, and the ease of access to the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans were becoming a most-to-visit for seasoned travelers.

While the most adventurous visitors explored the Caribbean coast and the inland mountain range, the north pacific coast of Guanacaste was gaining fame as the new hot spot for luxury resorts among warm waters and endless excursion opportunities.

Once again, Swiss Travel’s pioneers saw the great potential in the region and decided to invest in the area; in 1995 decided to open a whole service office in Liberia. This same year the local airport of the region was re-inaugurated as an international airport.

Taking advantage of the new international airport, and after several negotiations, Swiss Travel brought and operated the first touristic charter flight to Guanacaste.

HOW IT’S GOING

Today, Guanacaste boasts an extensive collection of luxury resorts spread along the coast where visitors can enjoy the pristine multi-color beaches and warm waters. International resort brands such as Westin, W Hotels, JW Marriott, AM Resorts, and Four Seasons blend with our Pacific coast’s natural tropical setting.

The Guanacaste Airport serves scheduled airlifts from all the major cities in the US, Canada, and even some flights direct from Europe. Our office is conveniently located just five minutes from the airport, which help us to offer comfortable and reliable transfer services.

Swiss Travel currently runs a large network of tour desks and hospitality desks in all the major resorts in the region. It offers various excursions that suit all interests, including wellness, ecotourism, adventure, active volcanoes, cultural activities, and socially responsible projects.
