The Kingdom of the Netherlands has recently donated an “Interceptor” vessel to Costa Rica, to install it in Tárcoles River, in a conjoint effort to stop plastic pollution to the ocean.

This system collects floating waste by placing a barrier in the river, and then goes into a barge with a conveyor belt that places the waste in containers for proper handling.

This device was created by The Ocean Cleanup, a Dutch organization that also will be delivering educational efforts in cleaning technologies, waste management and proper handling of this waste to Costa Rican communities, as part of the program.
