Swiss Travel is a leader in sustainability and tourism in Costa Rica.

As leaders, our staff works hard on creating innovative and environmental friendly products to offer our clients unique experiences while exploring the country’s extensive natural beauties, all leaving a low carbon footprint.

Following the guidelines set by Costa Rican Government, we recently achieved the highest level in Carbon Neutrality awarded by Costa Rica’s Enviroment Department.

This is how our new Electric Route was created.

Our product designers have made an extensive research and have created the Electric Route, taking into account the extensive recharge stations grid Costa Rica has, thanks to the efforts of state’s electric company, Costa Rican Electric Institute (ICE in Spanish), and private companies, that includes hotels, restaurants, and others.

Swiss Travel takes advantage of these benefits to create a low carbon footprint experience with its Electric Route program, that visits our top destinations and properties.

Environmental friendly tourism is possible in Costa Rica

ICE is a worldwide leader in renewable energy. Since 2015, Costa Rica has produced 98% of its energy through renewables like water, wind, geothermal, biomass and the sun.

This means that 98% of the energy used to recharge an electric vehicle, comes from clean energies, protecting our environment.

Check out our new web series "Sustainable Traveler"

Along with Costa Rican travel video blogger Isaac Centeno, Swiss Travel has created a series of episodes called Sustainable Traveler, where we will take you in a virtual sustainable tour to top destinations of our Electric Route.

Watch full episode one below, where Isaac is joined by our Sales Manager Claudia Huls to explore beautiful Puerto Viejo, in the South Caribbean of Costa Rica, its rich culture and great people.
