Within your itinerary, you will have the opportunity to visit an indigenous community or a community with very characteristic cultural and / or social features that should be taken care of. This document includes useful information for your trip, so that you and the community can enjoy the experience to the fullest.

• Respect their way of being: they usually have their own dialect, way of behaving, expressing themselves, working, dressing, eating and sometimes even their own government. Enjoy meeting the different cultures, learning from them, but respect them.
• Intellectual property: They usually have very own and striking cultural manifestations. Like, masks, dances, games, art and others. These are aspects of their culture with a deep-rooted meaning to their identity. If they offer the option of acquiring a product made by them, acquire it, check its meaning, but do not try to reproduce it. These cultural aspects belong to them.
• If you have any doubts: consult your guide with any questions you may have about a cultural aspect of the visited community.
• Take your waste: do not take disposable items and avoid generating large amounts of waste in these communities. Sometimes, they have a deficient waste collection system and your actions could increase the problem. Take the waste with you and throw it in the correct containers, at the next hotel you visit. We both have a waste treatment system endorsed by the government.
• Protection of children and adolescents: Swiss travel signed the Code of conduct against commercial sexual exploitation of minors. If you suspect any such activity, or the use of illegal substances, please inform to tour guide or local authorities.
• Archaeological pieces or Nature: in Costa Rica, the legislation prohibits the extraction of archaeological pieces and species of flora and fauna. Please reject any item made from animal pieces like: shells, feathers, bones and woods in danger and archaeological pieces. If you see or suspect any such activity, please inform to your guide or local authorities.
• Enjoy the local Gastronomy: delight in tasting the gastronomy options of these communities and remember the intellectual property of the dishes, belong to the community.
• Alcoholic beverages: If you are going to drink alcohol, remember to do it with measure, the goal is to enjoy the cultural experience of these communities.
• Walks or visits to ancestral or natural sites: remember to respect restricted areas or sacred places, where communities use to celebrate their rites and festivities. When you walk within the natural trails of the community, follow all the recommendations of tour guide.
• Water Use: Save water during your trip, take short showers and turn off the water tap while brushing your teeth and lathering your hand
