From October 25 to 27, Swiss Travel sponsored and was part in the 8th International Conference on Sustainable Tourism Planet, People, Peace – P3, the only international event on sustainable tourism held in Costa Rica, organized by Canaeco, with the support of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).

This is an event to share experiences and knowledge between Costa Rica and other countries in the world, to promote sustainability in the global tourism industry, covering topics such as sustainable tourism, climate change, architecture and ecosystems, leadership and climate change awareness.

Swiss Travel received recognition from the Minister of Tourism and Conagebio for our support of the Stop Animal Selfies Campaign, being the first tourism company to participate in the campaign since 2019.

Our Sustainability Manager, Jeldryn Vargas, was a speaker in the Fuego block, focused on the global challenges of sustainable tourism, first in the “Stop Animal Selfies Campaign as a Promoter of Sustainable Tourism” conference.

Moderator Shirley Ramírez from Conagebio highlighted the work of Swiss Travel in terms of biodiversity protection, supplier training, personnel, selection of suppliers that work responsibly with biodiversity and promotion of actions in support of this campaign.

Vargas also held a conference about the importance and different ways of preparing Sustainability Reports, as an element to increase credibility, competitiveness, and attraction of capital in companies.
