Discover the wonders behind one of the world’s most tantalizing and favorite foods — chocolate! Approximately one billion people eat chocolate every day and probably you are one of those who have wondered where chocolate is coming from. The cacao tree is originally from Mesoamerica and it has a rich and extraordinary history. Considered as “a gift from the Gods”, the cocoa tree was of great importance for the aboriginal culture of Central America, not only for the ceremonial use but also for its economic value as it was used as currency exchange in many tribes, including Costa Rica. In the 16th century, the cultural encounter introduces chocolate to Europe, which was transformed into the delicious product known today. It´s important to clary that this tour is not designed as a visit to a chocolate factory. The idea is to show the natural process that was used by ancestral civilizations, which includes harvesting, fermentation, drying, milling of the seeds, to try to show up the final product we consume nowadays.

• What to bring: Comfortable clothing, hiking shoes, raincoat, sun visor hat or similar, Sunglasses with UV protection, Sunscreen, insects repellent, aluminum water bottle, camera and binoculars.

• Special Notice: Require minimum to operate, 2 pax Minimum. **The tour requires a minimum number of people to operate.** The reservation has a 48 hour cancellation period, there is no refund if cancelled within 48 hours before the tour. If No Show for the tour, there is no refund. In case of cancellations due to illness, show medical proof, refund would be subject to each case of cancellation. Tours subject to restrictions, please notify in case of pregnancy or medical conditions. Minors must be accompanied by their parents, and must bring proof of identity of the minor.
