Discover the hills, pastures and Costa Rican dry forest mountains on horseback.
Horseback riding is a great a tour for those loving nature and horses. The horses used for the horseback riding are well-groomed, even-tempered and sure- footed with a comfortable gait. They are also very well trained, which makes them perfect for children and beginners, but also great for the more experienced. While riding you will discover hills, mountains, great views and all the astonishing scenes of the Guanacaste forests! You will enjoy horseback riding the Costa Rican style.
The Staff will introduce to your horse that will become your friend for the next couple hours and make you relish. The guides will give you some instructions, please pay careful attention because this will make your tour go smoothly and enjoyable at all times.
The Journey starts when you get on the horse and get out of the “Corral” where you will experience the nature of the tropical dry forest, this is different from any other type of forest you’ll ever be in, one of the last places in the world where this this type of forest exists. You will see some cattle along the way but also you will see monkeys (howler, spider, and whiteface), birds and iguanas, even sometimes we get to see deer, we can also spot some big cats tracks on the way and also raccoons, peccaries and agoutis hiding some seeds.
Once we went through the forest and some hills with beautiful views to the ocean, we will arrive to the old house of the Hacienda called el “Chagüite”, which is how the locals call the Banana/Plantains Plantations, and you can enjoy spectacular views to the Salinas Bay making this a beautiful and relaxing spot, perfect to cool down after the unique “Aventura” you just had. Here our staff will be waiting for you with some fresh fruits and natural “frescos” (drinks). At the “Chagüite” house we will entertain you and teach how to make tortillas, show you how to cook some local delicious snacks such as “biscochos, cajetas, tanelas” and others on a rustic Clay Oven on the traditional way our ancestors did.
