Investments in Sustainability

In 2009, Swiss Travel invested more than US$ 50,000 in its Touristic Sustainability Management programs, which demonstrates its clear and decisive commitment to the development of sustainable tourism in the country.

Accomplishments

• CST re-evaluation, 2009: Obtained four leaves of a possible five.
• Approximate savings of 10% in electric energy consumption at our offices due to the Energetic Efficiency program.
• Social responsibility work at six schools in the vicinity of Swiss Travel’s offices.
• Approximately 150 native trees planted at the Tenorio-Miravalles Biologic Corridor in accordance with the Forest Preservation program.
• 43,285 tons of materials were reclaimed for recycling since the implementation of the Solid Residue program.
• Participation of collaborators in volunteering programs and environmental fairs.
